Eric Snead is a documentary filmmaker and videographer based in Ohio, focused on telling the stories of working people, overlooked communities, and the industries that shape everyday life. His work centers on the intersection of labor, identity, and purpose—capturing the individuals behind machines, trades, and routines that often go unseen.
From an early age, Snead was drawn to observing real life as it unfolded—paying attention to the details most people pass by. That instinct evolved into a filmmaking approach rooted in presence and access: spending time with subjects, understanding their world, and translating it into honest, cinematic stories.
Snead is the founder of Set Fire Films, a production company dedicated to creating documentary-driven work for industrial, manufacturing, and blue-collar industries. His films prioritize authenticity over polish, aiming to help companies and individuals move beyond explanation and instead show what they do and why it matters.
Alongside his commercial work, Snead is developing an ongoing series of short documentaries exploring the lives of people across the Midwest—from factory floors and small businesses to individuals living dual lives outside of their day jobs. His goal is to build a body of work that reflects a region and its people with the same depth and attention often reserved for larger cultural centers.
